As a 501(c)3 with generous supporters, Kaya's K9s seeks to offset the cost of veterinary care for veteran service dogs. 

​**Please note: financial assistance is subject to the availability of funds and is not guaranteed, even if all eligibility criteria are met and application is completed. Only completed applications will be considered. KK9s does NOT cover the cost of: routine exams, vaccinations, training and socialization, diet and nutrition, dental health, and/or other diagnostic testing.

If you have a characterized discharge other than “Honorable”, please email info@kk9s.org to begin your application.

To qualify for assistance, veterans and their service dogs must meet the following criteria:

  • Veteran must verify their service on Active Duty, Guard, or Reserve with a discharge characterization of anything other than "Dishonorable." There is no time requirement for service. 

  • Veteran must have a verifiable diagnosis of a service-connected condition that requires the use of a service dog. Conditions include post-traumatic stress, traumatic brain injury, military sexual trauma, arthritis, debilitating back injury, amputation, or legal blindness.

  • The service dog must be treated in a potential or completed episode of care by a licensed veterinarian, or a veterinary tech/assistant under the supervision of a licensed veterinarian. 

  • The service dog requires non-routine emergency, critical, or specialty care.
