About Us

Our Mission

Our goal at Kaya’s K9s is to Heal Dogs that Serve Veterans. Emergency veterinary care can cost anywhere from $2,000 to $5,000 and pet insurance premiums can cost up to $1,000 per year plus a deductible, which is prohibitive for veterans on fixed disability income. KK9s seeks to close this gap by providing financial assistance to veterans experiencing an emergency visit to the vet. A qualifying veteran should apply by submitting appropriate documentation below.

Once submitted, the specific amount of financial assistance will be provided on a case-by-case basis after examining circumstances and provided KK9s has available funding.

Our Vision

Kaya’s K9s seeks to be the main provider of financial assistance for veterinary care for veteran service dogs in the United States by creating a coalition of veterinary providers and service dog organizations. As these extraordinary dogs become prominent in our fight against veteran suicide, KK9s seeks to help lower the veteran suicide rate by alleviating a major source of surprising financial stress.

Honoring Kaya’s Memory

The video of Kaya being honored on her last flight by Southwest Airlines has been viewed over 100-million times.

But it doesn’t begin to scratch the surface of Kaya’s impact. She routinely spent nights with struggling veterans. Thousands of veterans reached out to say Kaya had inspired them to seek help, or that she got them through a bad day after meeting her in person. Kaya didn’t just help change federal law through the PAWS Act. She had a real, personal impact on an incalculable number of people.

As service dogs become more prevalent in our fight against veteran suicide, thousands of veterans will experience the grief Cole felt after Kaya’s cancer diagnosis. With the creation of Kaya’s K9s, there’s now an organization dedicated to helping them though it.

Help keep Kaya’s legacy alive by donating today.
